AWESOME food and service. The ribs were very tender and meaty.Cucumber onion slaw is always fresh and good. Burnt ends were tender and Excellent. I had buffalo wings and they were perfect.This one of our favorite places to eat.

This Pork Tenderloin sandwich from Smokey D's BBQ was worth every mile of the 349 miles it took me to ride there! It was excellent!! So tender, seasoned just right and an awesome crunch! The ribs were off the chain! Look at that smoke ring! The Owner Darren told me he uses apple wood to smoke these amazing ribs. Yes please. The trophy case is awesome and after eating the food it's easy to see why it is award winning BBQ! It was so good! I had brisket, ribs, and burnt ends! YUM! Plus when ordering the cashier made a simple suggestion that corrected our order, saving us a small amount of money. The honesty made me want to go back that much more. I looked at the menu I think it saved us 10 cents. No big deal, but the principle of the act of goodwill will not be forgotten. So good on all fronts!

Kids weren't fans if the chicken strips... The breading tasted like breading you'd find on shrimp? But everything else was great! Great service, awesome nacho platter, and the fried pickles, brisket and ribs were all fantastic! Will for sure be back!!

Quick and easy service. Delicious and courteous staff. Got there right before the dinner rush. As someone who loves to smoke meats themselves it was pretty delicious. Ribs for me could of been a little more fall of the bone ( personal preference). But they were tasty. You get 4 different types of sauces. My favorite was sassy and mild. But their burnt ends were delicious. Super reasonable. I got the dinner platter for the brunt ends chopped pork with fries (fries were just fries) the cucumber onion salad and added on for ribs which was about 15 dollars (money well worth spent). I'd recommend stopping here definitely for some good bbq

Quick, delicious meal. A nice change to a typical menu. I had the "lunch" platter with burnt ends, potato casserole and baked beans with garlic bread. You order at the counter, select your beverage and your meal is delivered to your table. Kids meals are available as well as appetizers. Hope to stop by again sometime. (And the tenderloin is HUGE!!! Enough for 3 sandwiches.)

Pretty good barbecue, at reasonable prices. This place is huge, would be fine for a large group to attend. Service was prompt and helpful! The meat was better than the sauces to me personally. They serve the full gamut, pork chicken brisket sausage, etc.

The food is some of the best bbq that I have ever had. This visit I tried the Bbq Nachos (full order), the chips were crisp and the sauce was sweet and delicious. There is definitely enough for two or more as an appetizer or a meal.

Read a lot of good reviews of this place so I thought I'd check it out. Burnt ends was the best item I tried. Tender and flavorful, and I would consider the best burnt ends I've had. Mac and cheese was alright not as good as the hype would make it seem. However, I would still give this place 5 stars. Classic authentic bbq joint. Service was good and location was clean. Highly recommend checking out if you're passing by since its right off the highway.

Tenderloins, beef brisket and smoked turkey were amazing! We also had the Mac & cheese and fried pickles...fantastic flavors! We had a very large to go order and everything was packaged neatly.

Best BBQ pork nachos anywhere. Layered perfectly with plenty of toppings and cheese. More than enough in a full order for two people with left overs for only $10!

The portions could be a lil bit bigger, but the sauce was good.

Seriously, their burnt ends are AMAZING. Order two portions to eat in the restaurant, and a pound to take home. You will come back to this review and thank me for this recommendation - they are THAT GOOD. The restaurant is huge, but clean and welcoming. Service is fast and friendly. The only negative about it is the parking can be tricky.

Great BBQ! The burnt ends are fantastic, and the BBQ nachos are fabulous!! The french fries are also really good here. Tried the cherry and peach pie bites for dessert today... very underwhelmed with both, especially since it seemed like they used pie filling from a can. But their baked apple dumpling is delicious, so we'll stick with that next time.

No joke some of the best BBQ I have ever had. The smoked wings were unbelievable. I heard this place was good but it really was better than advertised. Food came out on 5 minutes even though it was packed - 5 stars easily.

Amazing food! The smoked wings were smoked perfectly! They did forget my husbands blue cheese with his wings but he is so happy with the wings and seasoned fries with ranch that he hasn’t mentioned it!!! I ordered the Chicken BBQ nachos and I like the way they packaged it to go! The chicken, cheese and barbecue sauce was blended to perfection! Flavors went to together wonderfully! Thank you so much!

I tried to call and place a takeout order to pick up for 8pm. The automated recording said they wont take any new pickup orders after 530pm. What a joke. Saw that the restaurant would be open until 10pm today so I drove to get a to go order instead. It wasn't until reaching the front door that you find out they changed their hours to 8pm on a Friday night. The pandemic requires takeout orders only, and the restaurant cant even update their hours anywhere online? I highly suggest to go to any of the other BBQ restaurants in the area. At least they will be open for dinner hours.

Restaurant was pretty busy when we arrived, but we were able to get our orders in and seated quickly. Place was clean and staff was friendly. The meats were tasty and the sauce options were good as well. Good options for sides and the sides were good. Came as a party of 11 and no one had any issues. Definitely a place to check out if you want bbq.

Some great food!! I chose to order the half order of pork nachos. They were very filling for one person and tasted great. I wouldn't have minded having more pork on the nachos, but combined with everything else the nachos tasted great. I added some mild sauce to mine. The chips were on the thin side so they got soggy quickly, but this didn't pose a problem. The rest of the party I was with ordered a wide variety of food and all were very pleased. I did try a BBQ egg roll and that was exceptional as well. I'd definitely visit again if I ever got the chance.

Down right the best BBQ in Iowa. I don't know what they do but it is absolutely awesome. Plus the service there is fantastic. All around a fun place to eat

Amazing food! I was very impressed for sure! This is a must go to for amazing BBQ! I'll be going here every time I get to Des Moines! There's a reason they have won so many trophies and it's not cause they don't have good food!

Awesome food. We are from Wisconsin heading to Arkansas and this was along the way. We are impressed by how quick it was to order at the counter and how fast our meal came. Everything was hot and fresh. It is the perfect place to stop for amazing food. Burnt ends are to die for. Sauces aren't anything to write home about, but you'll find something.This place is definitely worth the stop.

Order at window and seat yourself. Long banquet tables to accommodate big parties. Meat has the perfect amount of smoke, sides are delicious, dining area is clean, employees are kind and helpful. Worth the drive!

It comes across like an updated version of Famous Dave’s, the meats were good. The chicken was moist and tasty. The burnt ends have to be the best thing there, the garlic bread was good and the ribs were great. Good sauces, with fair prices for what you get.Edit : we were there a week ago again, the burnt ends were a bit on the dry side but the ribs are great. I think that’s what it worth coming for.

Quality is unsurpassed by anyone. Truly a one of kind joint serving the best of the best in Iowa. Always a pleasure coming to dine here.

We have been here a few times and have never been disappointed. The smokey goodness is always on point. The sides are really good and the sauces are amazing. The service is quick and accurate. We will return without hesitation.

Their food was decent. Difficult to order for a big party. You need to walk up to the window to make your order. If you're not familiar with this place others behind you can get upset. We let others go in front of us while we tried to navigate through their menu. Then we had to go try to find a table (s) for our party. No help from anyone there.

Food was delicious, as always. They were quick to bring our food to us. The order was correct. The bathrooms were clean. They have high chairs.

We made Smokey D’s a stop on our journey from Saint Louis to Minneapolis. We are glad we did. We got the Farm Boy (pictured). It was awesome! The fries were seasoned and had white gravy on them. My wife and I tackled it together but it whooped us. We weren’t able to finish this monstrosity! Believe the hype! It’s worth the stop.

Being from KCMO I tend to think I'm a BBQ expert and I've got to say this was delicious! Their X-Fiery sauce was my favorite out of the 4 sauces offered. The service was great and extremely fast. Our order came so fast we questioned if it was ours! The cole slaw is my #2 all time favorite, and the did not serve us limp noodle mushy french fries - they were as crispy perfection.
